High Definition 720p
The industry’s first and only true High Definition police in-car video system. Records in the 16:9 widescreen 720p High Definition format which is 3.5X higher image resolution than the best video quality of any other product in this industry.
Multiple Resolution Recording
WatchGuard 4RE (4 Resolution Encoding) uses multiple video processors to simultaneously record in both High Definition and a standard resolution. Then 4RE leverages “Critical Event Rules” (set by the agency) to automatically determine for each recorded event which resolution gets saved and uploaded to the server. The officer simply selects the “type” of event on the touch-screen display, 4RE does the rest. On average, 90% of recordings will be routine and will be saved in a standard resolution. Less than 10% of events (the critical recordings that matter) typically get saved in high definition.
Main Profile H.264 Compression
4RE HD is the first and only in-car video system to use the more advanced video compression based on the public MPEG family of compression standards called H.264 MP. The H.264 MP (Main Profile) compression standard is much more sophisticated and efficient than the base H.264 BP (Baseline Profile) compression used by some other in-car video products. It also requires approximately 10 times more processing power to compress video to the H.264 MP standard as compared to the simpler H.264 BP standard. For video of the same resolution and quality, 4RE video files are the smallest, the storage cost is the lowest and the wireless transfer times will be the quickest.
20% Less Total File Storage Requirement
It enables for the first time, higher video quality while reducing the total file storage requirements by approximately 20% over competing options. It doesn’t eat server storage space as your IT people might fear. In short, 4RE High Definition eliminates the painful compromise between video quality and average file size.
Record-After-the-Fact™
Our proprietary, powerful feature which takes you to back in time, up to several days, to recover video from the hard drive buffer. Allows retrieval of events not previously recorded to the DVD.
Pre/Post Event Recording
Up to 10 minutes of both pre- and post-event video may be automatically added to the beginning and/or end of each chapter.
Covert Mode
Enables recording of both audio and video, undetected by suspects, whether the officer is in the vehicle or not.
Superior Hardware Quality and Unmatched Look and Feel
Robust and rugged materials provide the feel of military grade quality not found in other systems. It has the look and feel of a high-end piece of equipment.
16:9 Wide Screen Aspect Ratio
Uses a wide screen (16:9) aspect ratio (versus a conventional 4:3 ratio where the image area is almost square). This wide screen aspect ratio is the ideal format for in-car video because it wastes fewer pixels on the sky and the vehicle’s hood.
4.3 Inch Touch Screen Display
The system includes a high contract 4.3″ touch screen display. It is very small, very easy to use and can fit in any vehicle. It can be mounted virtually anywhere; ceiling, center console or any flat surface.
Industry Leading Graphical User Interface
Features an intuitive, easy to use, on-screen interface that controls the functions of the 4RE High Definition.
All Digital Combination Camera with IR Illumination
This is two cameras in one enclosure. One forward facing with 720p High Definition zoom camera. A second built-in camera is a high performance, digital backseat color D1 camera. Both are fully digital. IR illumination allows you to record back seat occupant in complete darkness.
Single DIN DVR
The DVR is easily the most powerful and advanced in this market, yet also one of the smallest recorders—it is a single DIN device.
USB Flash Drive
A USB flash drive (aka thumb drive) is the most convenient and universally accepted flash device, and the 4RE High Definition is the first widely-embraced in-car video system to use this removable device. It is securely locked behind a panel door and is compatible with all PCs.
Dual Drive Redundancy
This system brings a new level of evidence security by utilizing a unique dual architecture not shared by any other company in this industry. There is a recording on the hard drive and a back up on the USB flash drive.
Super Wide Operational Temperature Range
4RE High Definition is rated for a super wide temperature range of -30ºF to +185ºF.
High Speed Wireless Transfer
4RE HD uses an industrial-grade 802.11n high speed radio to achieve the quickest upload times available. This system achieves real-world transfer speeds fast enough to upload 9 hours of video spread across 6 vehicles simultaneously in about 300 seconds. This 802.11n radio is connected to the DVR but not built into the DVR which allows agencies to migrate to future technologies (like gigabit speed 802.11ac) when they become available by merely replacing the external radio device. Systems with the 802.11 radio embedded into the DVR cannot be upgraded easily if at all.
State-of-the-Art Backend Server System
This system software is called Evidence Library 2.0. It supports multiple remote clients, and files from the USB flash drive can even be imported from remote clients, not just at the server station. It supports multiple layers of supervisory hierarchy and you can assign specific permissions to each class of user.
